Pendant lights over the dining table: height, size and spacing

Height

Hang the bottom of the shade 70 to 100 cm above the tabletop. At this height the light stays on the table, and people sitting on either side can still see each other under the lamp. Low, wide lamps such as Ronda can hang closer to the lower figure; taller shades sit better towards 100 cm.

Size

For a single pendant over a round or square table, a shade about half the width of the table keeps the proportions right. A 90 cm table takes a 45 cm lamp; a table of 120 cm or more takes a 60 cm lamp such as Esenta 60, which holds three bulbs.

Long tables

Over a long table, hang two or three lamps of the same size in a row. Divide the length of the table into equal parts and hang one lamp over the centre of each part. On a 240 cm table, two lamps hang 60 cm in from each end and 120 cm apart. On a 270 cm table, three lamps hang 90 cm apart.

Light

Warm white bulbs of 2700 K suit a dining table. A dimmer lets the same lamp give clear light during the day and lower light at dinner. Panteo, Ronda and Rumo have a diffuser at the bottom, so the bulb is hidden from people at the table and the light falls evenly on the tabletop.

The cord of our pendants can be shortened to the height you need, and longer cords are made on request.
